Rail Corridor in Northern Durham County to be Assessed
Pictures showing a few views of portions of an abandoned rail (D&N/SAL/SCL) corridor in northern Durham County, NC. This ~4 mile trail parallels Panther Creek and is a potential rail-trail. Some sections near Burton Road have been cleaned up a bit and are being used by nearby residents. Several TRTC Board members walked much of the trail on April 11 to assess it's condition and talk to nearby citizens about their interest in developing a managed trail on this corridor. Searches of property records to determine ownership of the corridor and adjacent properties have not been done as of April 2009. These will need to be accomplished before TRTC (or others) can undertake efforts to have this trail actively managed by Durham.
