Call for Volunteers to Help with Improvements at Pittard Sears Trailhead

NC DOT is requiring TRTC to make a number of upgrades to bring the parking and fountain area and the connection trail into compliance with Federal and State disability rules. An initial project we will be doing in a few weeks will involve installing and covering an 18” diameter plastic culvert. To do this we will need to move about 6 cubic yards of crushed aggregates from where it will be delivered at the back of the lot to the site of the new culvert on the west side of the ATT. We plan to do this with wheel barrows using a slightly down sloping dirt trail about 175’ long. Weather permitting, we plan to do this on both Friday September 29th and Saturday September 30th from ~9 am to 1 or 2 pm. We are looking for trail supporters interested in shoveling and using wheel barrows for 4 to 5 hours. If you are interested in helping out, please respond to info@triangletrails.org by September 26th and indicate which day you are available and also let us know if you can furnish a sturdy shovel and/or wheelbarrow. Shortly after the 26th we’ll get back to those who responded to let them know decisions for the workday.
